Ace: Broadcast feel for smaller cameras
Sachtler offers those who shoot low-budget documentaries / ENG, industrials, wedding / event, training videos and webinars with the Ace tripod system Sachtler quality and reliability for professional work in a completely new price category. With a payload of up to 4 kilograms (8.8 pounds), Ace is ideal for smaller HDV camcorders and video-enabled DSLR cameras. And this at an astonishing price/performance ratio.
SA-dragTM for perfect Sachtler performance
For Ace, Sachtler’s engineers developed a completely new patented drag, SA dragTM (Synchronised Actuated Drag), which guarantees the familiar accuracy and repeatability at an astonishing price/performance ratio. With 3 vertical and 3 horizontal grades of drag (+0), the new patented SA dragTM enables fine adjustment for precise panning and tilting. As with all Sachtler fluid heads, damping can also be completely deactivated.
Perfect counterbalance from 0 to 4 kilograms (0 to 8.8 lbs)
With its 5-step counterbalance that makes fast counterbalancing of the camera set-up very simple, Ace outperforms tripod heads by other manufacturers. Thanks to its payload range of 0 to 4 kilograms (0 to 8.8 lbs), professional work is possible with video-enabled DSLR cameras as well as smaller HDV camcorders. The new fluid head has a tilt range of +90° to -75°.
Lightweight thanks to innovative material
For Ace, a glass fiber reinforced composite material was chosen which makes the new 75mm fluid head especially light and offers a comfortable and non-slip surface feel. Johnnie Behiri, freelance camera operator from Austria, likes the selection of the material: “The material for Ace has been chosen well. In doing so, Sachtler has succeeded in striking a balance between an affordable price and solid quality for Ace. The result is a dependable tripod system for daily use.” For the head’s modern design, ergonomic aspects were the highest

priority. The head enables camera operators to work extremely intuitively and professionally. In addition, Sachtler’s 50 years of experience developing camera support guarantees absolute dependability, easy operation and typical Sachtler features such as the practical parking position for spare camera screws and the long 104mm sliding range of the camera plate. Due to the lightweight and the compact design of the new tripod system, it is the perfect companion for work on the go.
Ace – a real Sachtler
A range of DSLR filmmakers and videographers have already put Ace to the test. They agree: Ace is very light yet stable. German DSLR filmmaker Sebastian Wiegärtner describes Ace as “one of the best fluid heads in this category”. For him, it is “an essential tool for every filmmaker who has to keep an eye on the budget but doesn’t want to do without important professional features.”
Phil Arntz, DSLR filmmaker from Great Britain, emphasizes: “Working with Ace is unbelievably comfortable: The counterbalance works effortlessly, the drag functions perfectly, the tripod can be easily and quickly set up – you notice Sachtler’s experience with every turn of the hand.”
DSLR filmmaker Nino Leitner from Austria concludes: “Ace offers never-before-seen quality in this price category. Many people have unsuccessfully been looking for a fluid head at this price with step-setting possibilities, which have long been familiar features in my expensive Sachtler tripod systems, to perfectly adjust it to the weight and balance of the camera system being used. Ace will no doubt become the first choice in the field of DSLR film and is setting very high standards.”
Ace availability in the US: November 14th, 2011
