This weekend, Canon upgraded its Rebel series and took another step in solidifying itself as a full-on photo-video hybrid camera manufacturer. For those of you, here are the differences:
T3i
Everything is the exact same as the T2i as far as the image quality and video resolution:
1080p @24fps and 30fps
720p @ 60fps, etc.
The only differences are the swivel out screen, which is a nice addition for the filmmaker, a slightly better kit lens (1 stop worth of image stabilization), filter effects from the 60D:
- Fake tilt-shift
- Fisheye
- Colorized photo filters, etc.
Other notable upgrades:
- Multiple aspect ratios
- Video snap feature – allows user to capture 2/4/8 second video clips
- Digital zoom while shooting video
T3
The new bottom level camera by Canon is a bare bones 12 megapixel shooter that only records 720p video. It does not have a swivel screen but it only costs $600 for the kit!
